SEATTLE, Wa. (Apr. 12)Melissa Stanton
scored a 9.650 on the uneven bars and Corrie McDaniel posted
36.450 in the all-around competition to represent Seattle Pacific
University in the NCAA West Regional Championship on the
University of Washington campus.
Stanton (Jr., Rapid City, SD), a former NCAA
Division III National Champion on bars, placed 25th overall as an
at-large competitor. The University of Washingtons Carly
Dockendorf won the unevens with a 9.950.
McDaniels (So., Lawrence, Ks.) 36.450
at-large all-around total placed her 20th among competitors. The
sophomore is a returning USA Gymnastics All-American in the
all-around.
In the team competition, Nebraska prevailed,
totaling a 196.650. Louisiana State finished second with 195.700,
Washington was third with 195.675, Cal State Fullerton fourth
(193.175), and Boise State and San Jose State tied for fifth
(192.875).
Stanton and McDaniel will return to practice
with the Falcons on Monday afternoon as they tune up for the USA
Gymnastics national meet this Thursday thru Saturday (Apr. 17-19)
in Denton, Tx.
