SEATTLE (Apr. 7) -- Danielle Ayers-Stamper,
whose three wins led Seattle Pacific University to win its fourth
straight Vernacchia Team Classic, was selected as the female track
& field co-athlete of the week in the Great Northwest Athletic
Conference.
It's the second such honor for Ayers-Stamper
(Fr., LaCrosse, Wa.) this season. She was named the outstanding
female athlete of the Vernacchia meet, as she won the long jump
(17 feet, 7 1Z?2 inches) and the 100-meter hurdles (15.02 seconds)
and shared first in the high jump (5-3).
Ayers-Stamper was also runner-up in the shot
put with a personal-best heave of 37-6 3/4 and third in the
javelin (121-10), accounting for 43 points in all.
Seattle Pacific resumes competition Friday at
the Pelluer Invitational in Cheney, Wa.
