CORVALLIS, Or.-Seattle Pacific University
tumbled its third team score of the season over 190, but it was
not enough to defeat host Oregon State University as the Beavers
out-scored Denver University 197.050 to 194.250 and beat the
Falcons' 190.625 team total in a gymnastics tri-meet Friday night
at Gill Coliseum.
Oregon State posted victories on all four
events and won the all-around competition as well. The Beavers'
Angela Morales won vault with a 9.875, Elizabeth Jillson and Tanya
Ricioli tied for first on bars with Denver's Michelle Kasuga with
a 9.9 and Ricioli won both beam and floor exercise with 9.950 and
9.925, respectively, en route to top honors in the all-around
(39.575).
The Falcons posted top team marks on vault and
floor exercise. SPU tumbled 48.000 on vault and danced a 47.950 on
floor.
Corrie McDaniel (So., Lawrence Kansas) launched
a team high 9.650 on vault en route to a fifth place finish in the
all-around competition (37.200). Teammate Melissa Stanton (Rapid
City, SD) placed seventh overall on the uneven bars with a 9.750.
Kristin Strid (Sr., Kingsburg, Ca.) negotiated
the balance beam an eighth place 9.675 and Rachael Anderson (Sr.,
Yakima, Wa.) flipped the Falcons' top score on the floor mats with
a 9.650.
Seattle Pacific competes with Mountain Pacific
Sports Federation foe Sacramento State in California next Friday
night (March 14). Official start time is scheduled for 7PM. The
Falcons' last home meet of 2003 is slated for March 22, against
Alaska Anchorage/Cal State Fullerton.
