SEATTLE (Mar. 5) -- Stacie Lukkes and Adam
Harris, both of Seattle Pacific University, each made their
respective academic all-conference basketball teams for the third
year in a row. In all, four SPU men and four women were included
in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference selections.
Lukkes (Sr., 6-0, Kent, Wa./Kentwood) is a
business administration major with a 3.94 grade point average. She
was joined by teammates Michelle Beaumont (So., 5-11, Bellingham,
Wa./Sehome), an art major with a 3.20. GPA; Valerie Gustafson
(Jr., 6-0, Olympia, Wa./Black Hills), a European studies major
with a 3.44; and Kerie Hughes (Sr., 5-6, Mount Vernon, Wa.), a
business administration major with a 3.20. Gustafson was the only
other repeat selection.
Harris (Sr., 6-0, Fox Island, Wa./Gig Harbor),
an English major with a 3.51, was one of three repeat selections
for the men. Daniel Sandrin (Sr., 6-7, Bothell, Wa./Bothell),
business administration major with a 3.60, and Chris Cohen (Jr.,
6-8, Saint Helens, Or.), a business administration major with a
3.57, were also on the GNAC team in 2002. Jordan Lee (So., 6-2,
University Place, Wa./Life Christian), a theology major with a
3.67, is a first-time selection.
Seattle Pacific and Western Oregon featured the
most selections for the men while SPU was second only to Central
Washington's five among women's teams. In all, 22 women and 19 men
were named.
To be eligible for the academic team,
student-athletes must have a minimum grade point average of 3.20
and be in at least their second year of competition at their
university.
