SPU's Heritage to Coach U.S. Runners in Switzerland
February 27, 2003

SEATTLE (Feb. 26) - Doris Heritage of Seattle Pacific University will serve as head coach of the United States women's national team at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships, March 29-30 in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Heritage, herself a five-time world champion, is the SPU men's and women's head coach of cross country and assistant coach for track & field. This is her third stint as national team coach for the world championships and her first since 1993.

The U.S. team was determined earlier this month at the trials in Houston. Deena Drossin leads the squad, having won her sixth American long course title. Drossin took the silver medal and the Americans were second overall at the 2002 world championships in Ireland.
