SEATTLE (Feb. 15) - Sarah Kraybill of Seattle
Pacific University secured an automatic NCAA Division II berth in
the 800 meters with an indoor school-record time at the Washington
Invitational Saturday at Dempsey Indoor.
Kraybill (Sr., Seattle, Wa./Ballard) took
second in her heat and placed eighth overall in a time of 2
minutes, 9.61 seconds-the No. 3 qualifying time in the nation this
winter. Her previous best time had been 2:12.54. Heather Hennigar
took first in the race in 2:02.91.
The Falcons' Nathanael Castle (Sr., Gooding,
Id.) hit a provisional qualifying standard in the mile, finishing
14th in 4:12.27. He already ranks seventh among 800 qualifiers.
Nike's Michael Stember won the mile in 3:58.40.
Danielle Ayers-Stamper (Fr., LaCrosse, Wa.)
surpassed two personal-bests in the high jump. Her final clearance
of 5 feet, 6 1/2 inches, which would be tied for fifth on the
qualifier list, placed fifth.
The NCAA Division II Championships are Mar.
14-15 in Boston. SPU will next see action in a triangular
indoor/outdoor meet with Puget Sound and Lewis & Clark Mar. 1
in Tacoma.
