Kraybill Secures an Entry in NCAA 800
February 15, 2003

SEATTLE (Feb. 15) - Sarah Kraybill of Seattle Pacific University secured an automatic NCAA Division II berth in the 800 meters with an indoor school-record time at the Washington Invitational Saturday at Dempsey Indoor.

Kraybill (Sr., Seattle, Wa./Ballard) took second in her heat and placed eighth overall in a time of 2 minutes, 9.61 seconds-the No. 3 qualifying time in the nation this winter. Her previous best time had been 2:12.54. Heather Hennigar took first in the race in 2:02.91.

The Falcons' Nathanael Castle (Sr., Gooding, Id.) hit a provisional qualifying standard in the mile, finishing 14th in 4:12.27. He already ranks seventh among 800 qualifiers. Nike's Michael Stember won the mile in 3:58.40.

Danielle Ayers-Stamper (Fr., LaCrosse, Wa.) surpassed two personal-bests in the high jump. Her final clearance of 5 feet, 6 1/2 inches, which would be tied for fifth on the qualifier list, placed fifth.

The NCAA Division II Championships are Mar. 14-15 in Boston. SPU will next see action in a triangular indoor/outdoor meet with Puget Sound and Lewis & Clark Mar. 1 in Tacoma.
