Falcon Men Fall to Alaska Anchorage in Overtime, Slip to 4th
February 15, 2003

ANCHORAGE (Feb. 15) -- Peter Bullock scored 26 points and Cody Gallatin added 24 as Alaska Anchorage seized control from the outset of overtime and dealt Seattle Pacific University a 90-84 Great Northwest Athletic Conference defeat Saturday night at the UAA Sports Center.

The Falcons (8-4, 12-9), led by the 22 points of Yusef Aziz (Sr., 6-4, Seattle, Wa./Foster), missed an opportunity to reclaim second place in the GNAC and saw their conference title hopes fade, going into Thursday's home game with leader and No. 4-ranked Humboldt State. With the loss, SPU slipped to fourth place.

Seattle Pacific was unable to hold a 10-point (55-45) second-half advantage, managing only four field goals in the final nine minutes. The Seawolves (9-4, 12-10) tied it at 71-all with 1:50 remaining on a basket by Gallatin. Aziz took the final sot of regulation but his off-balance try missed.

UAA got a three-pointer from Jesse Brown to begin the extra period and proceeded to go on a 12-2 run and an 83-73 lead. The Seawolves hit all three of their field goals and 12-16 free throws in overtime.

The Falcons trailed by as much as 11 (22-11) early in the game but aggressively attacked the interior and, by so doing, made 13 trips to the foul line in the first half. They parlayed that advantage to take a 42-37 lead into the break. Bullock made 11-18 shots from the field and also grabbed a game-high 11 reobunds. Gallatin stroked four three-pointers.

Adam Harris (Sr., 6-0, Fox Island, Wa./Gig Harbor) contributed 16 points--12 coming off treys--and Jason Chivers (So., 6-8, Palmdale, Ca.) had 15 for SPU. Both Chivers and Aziz had 10 rebounds. Chivers also blocked five shots.

Seattle Pacific, after shooting 54 percent in the first half, cooled to make just 38 percent after halftime. Anchorage made 48 percent from the field, finished with a 40-37 edge in rebounds and 15-18 in turnovers.
