STANFORD, Ca. (Jan. 31)--Stanford University
managed to scrape by Oregon State University 196.575 to 196.275
and San Jose State (193.475) finished nearly five points ahead of
Seattle Pacific University (187.825) in a four-way meet Friday
night at Stanford.
Seattle Pacific posted several strong finishes,
notably on the uneven bars as Kristin Strid (Sr., Kingsburg, Ca.)
swung a season high 9.775. Teammates Melissa Stanton (Jr., Rapid
City, SD) and Jennifer Christman (Jr., Fairfield, Ca.) finished
close behind with 9.750 and 9.725, respectively.
Strid also negotiated the balance beam to earn
a 9.600. Rachael Anderson (Sr., Yakima, Wa.) posted the Falcons'
top finish on floor exercise with a 9.675.
In the all-around competition, Stanford's Lise
Leveille turned in a 39.475 tie with Oregon State's Tanya Ricioli
for top honors. SPU's Corrie McDaniel tumbled a 36.300 for eighth
place. Leveille also won the vault (9.900) and tied with Ricioli
for first on floor exercise (9.925).
San Jose State's Shirla Choy won the uneven
bars with a 9.925 and Lindsey Wing of Stanford finished first on
beam (9.975).
Seattle Pacific returns to its home mats to
take on cross-town rival University of Washington Friday night
(Feb. 7).
