Albright Paces Spartans Past Falcons in Gym Opener
January 25, 2003

SEATTLE (Jan. 25) -- Dani Albright of San Jose State won two events as the Spartans defeated Seattle Pacific University in its opening gymnastics meet Saturday night at Brougham Pavilion.

Albright won the vault with a score of 9.800 and the floor exercise with a 9.750. She also took third place on the uneven bars with a 9.650.

San Jose State finished with 189.750 total points to the Falcons' 187.350.

Kristen Strid (Sr., Kingsburg, Ca.) picked up the lone SPU win, tying the Spartans' Shirla Choy for first on bars with a 9.675. Strid was runnerup to Kelsey Spellacy (9.675) on beam at 9.550.

Jennifer Greene of San Jose State won the all-around with a four-event total of 37.625. Choy, who was also second on floor, was third in the all-around with a 37.025.

Kari Kelly (So., Yakima, Wa./Eisenhower) of SPU vaulted to second place (9.750). taking bronze medals for the Falcons were Courtney Amonsen (Sr., Redmond, wa./Inglemoor) on beam (9.475) and Rachael Anderson (Sr., Yakima, Wa./West Valley) on floor (9.700).

SPU visits Stanford Friday for a four-way meeting including San Jose State and Oregon State.
