SEATTLE (Jan. 13) -- Carli Smith, a freshman
forward who posted two double-doubles for unbeaten Seattle Pacific
University last week, has been selected as women's basketball
co-player of the week in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.
Smith (Fr., 5-11, Spokane, Wa./Valley
Christian) came off the bench for 17 points and 19 rebounds in a
95-75 victory over Northwest Nazarene and added 11 and 10,
respectively, in Saturday's 90-49 win over Saint Martin's. The 19
boards ties for the No. 4 all-time single game total by an SPU
player and No. 2 in GNAC records. The Falcons are now 13-0 (4-0 in
the GNAC) and ranked No. 2 among NCAA Division II teams.
Seattle Pacific, already off to its best start,
can set a new school record for consecutive wins Saturday at
Central Washington.
