LEWISTON, IDAH0 (Dec. 20) -- Michelle Beaumont
(So., 5-11, Bellingham, Wa./Sehome) scored a career-high 21 points
to lead the Seattle Pacific's University women's basketball team
past Lewis-Clark State 81-64 in a non- conference matchup in
Lewiston, Idaho on Friday night.
The Falcons (2-0, 8-0), currently ranked No. 2
in the NCAA Division II national poll, have won eight straight
games.
Seattle Pacific outrebounded the Warriors,
ranked No. 16 in the NAIA, 53-to-33 and connected on nearly half
of their shot attempts at 49 percent (30-61).
Carli Smith (Fr., 5-11, Spokane, Wa./Valley
Christian) had a career-best 12 rebounds to lead the Falcons on
the glass.
Valerie Gustafson (Jr., 6-0, Olympia, Wa./Black
Hills) finished just one point shy of her career-high of 19 points
on six-of-eight shooting. Beaumont shot an even higher percentage
at 8-for-11 from the field. Kelley Berglund (Sr., 6-3, Port
Angeles, Wa./Washington State) was the third Falcon in
double-figures with 12 points on six-of-seven shooting.
The Falcons recorded 30 turnovers, compared to
just 18 for the Warriors.
Seattle Pacific returns to action after
Christmas on Dec. 27 at the CCAA/GNAC Challenge. The Falcons face
reigning regional champion Cal Poly Pomona at 5 p.m.
