RENO (Dec. 19) -- Seattle Pacific's offense
sank 11 three-pointers, but in the end rebounding and
foul-shooting made the difference as the University of Nevada-Reno
beat the Falcons 89-80 Thursday night in a men's basketball game
at the Lawlor Events Center.
The Falcons (5-4) extended their losing streak
to three-games for the first time since midway through the 1997-98
campaign.
The Wolf Pack (3-5) snapped a two-game losing
streak behind a 45-30 rebounding edge and 18 free-throw
conversions on 25 attempts.
Kevin Pinkney recorded an 18-point, 17-rebound
double-double to lead Reno.
Maurice Cato (Sr., 6-0, Fairfield, Ca.)
finished with 16 points and sank four-of-six attempts from behind
the three-point arc for SPU.
Yusef Aziz (Sr., 6-4, Seattle, Wa./Foster) led
the Falcons on offense with 21 points and on the glass with a
team-best nine rebounds. He converted on five-of-nine trips to the
charity stripe.
The Falcons went to the line just 13 times,
compared to 25 for the Wolf Pack.
Reno also dominated the game from the inside
with 49 points in the paint. Eighteen offensive rebounds led to 25
second-chance points for Reno.
