SEATTLE (Dec. 18) -- The Seattle Pacific
University women's basketball team climbed two places to No. 2 in
the NCAA Division II national coaches poll released today. The
Falcons received one first-place vote among the coaches polled.
The Falcons, unbeaten at 7-0 this season and
2-0 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, cracked the top
five at No. 4 last week for the first time in the 25-year

highest-ever ranking for the program.
South Dakota State earned the No. 1 ranking
after Missouri Western dropped out of the top spot. Western
Washington (4-1), the only other Great Northwest Athletic
Conference team listed, retained its No. 13 ranking. Cal Poly
Pomona (1-2), who the Falcons face at the CCAA/GNAC Challenge on
Dec. 27, fell to No. 22 from No. 10
