SEATTLE (Nov. 22) - Sharon Bjella, a
high-jumper from Everett High School, has become Seattle Pacific
University's second track & field early recruit, signing a
national letter of intent.
Bjella, a senior at Everett, was the runner-up
in the high jump at last spring's state 4A championships, clearing
5 feet, 6 inches, and also took second at the 3A meet as a
sophomore. She is the Seagulls' school record holder. Bjella's
older brother, Clint, is a sophomore at SPU and currently a
middle-distance and cross country runner for the Falcons.
Bjella joins Danae Clark, a long- and
triple-jumper from Hillsboro (Or.), as an early signee.
Seattle Pacific has won three consecutive
conference championships and in 2002 finished 19th at the NCAA
Division II Championships.
