BELLINGHAM, WA. (Nov. 16) -- Monica Herrera
(Jr., Lima, Peru/Mercy College) slammed 14 kills as the Seattle
Pacific University volleyball team fell to Great Northwest
Athletic Conference champion Western Washington University 30-13,
30-21, 30-17 Saturday night in Bellingham, Wa. Western is
currently ranked No. 7 in the AVCA and No. 1 in the region.
The Falcons (8-10, 9-16) recorded a .035 attack
percentage compared to .258 for the Vikings (18-0, 23-2) who
completed a perfect GNAC schedule. The loss snaps a season-long
three-match winning streak for SPU.
Carri Colvin (Sr., Vancouver, Wa./Praire) and
Katy Kravitz (Jr., Olympia, Wa./N. Colorado) led SPU on defense
with 16 digs apiece. The Falcons recorded just three blocks and no
service aces in the defeat.
SPU capped its first losing record since 1997,
but finished the season winning three of its final four matches.
