SEATTLE (Nov. 15) -- Yusef Aziz scored 19 of
his 34 points in the second half and added 11 rebounds as Seattle
Pacific University completed preseason play with a 117-96
exhibition men's basketball win over The Son's Blue Angels Friday
night in Brougham Pavilion.
Redshirt freshman Jeff Knudson (6-7, Mukilteo,
Wa./Kamiak) came off the bench for five three-pointers and 20
points and Maurice Cato (Sr., 6-0, Fairfield, Ca.) had 17 points
and seven assists for the Falcons, who shot 54 percent from the
field.
Seattle Pacific begins the regular season next
Friday when it hosts Minnesota-Duluth in the first round of the
Vitamilk Tip-Off Classic.
Aziz (Sr., 6-4, Seattle, Wa./Foster) powered
his way to the hoop for 15 first-half points but the Falcons'
11-point lead was largely due to work on the offensive boards.
Aziz, Jason Chivers (So., 6-8, Palmdale, Ca.) and Jesse Keely
(Sr., 6-7, Firecrest, Wa./Bellarmine) combined for 16
second-chance points. The Blue Angels got no closer than nine in
the second half.
Chivers collected 11 boards and had 10 points
in 17 minutes, his second double-double in as many games. Keely
had 12 points and seven rebounds. Aziz made 14 of 25 field goals
and added four steals. Knudson was 5-9 from outside the arc. Ryan
Hanson paced the Blue Angels with 27 points, 18 coming off treys.
Former Husky Chris Walcott had 22 points and Donte Quinine, star
of the Falcons' 2000 Final Four team, had 17.
