MONMOUTH, OR. (Nov. 7) - Katy Kravitz (Jr.,
Olympia, Wa./N. Colorado) and Kathleen Monda (So., Woodinville,
Wa./Washington State) combined for 23 kills and just four errors
to lead the Seattle Pacific University volleyball team in a
comeback victory over Western Oregon University 29-31, 30-21,
20-30, 35-33, 15-13 Thursday night in Monmouth, Ore. The Falcons
victory is their second straight after dropping four straight.
The Falcons (7-9, 8-15) fought off three match
points by Western Oregon (3-12, 2-21) in the comeback victory
lasting nearly two-and-a-half hours on a season-high 73 kills and
career-bests from three players. Monica Herrera (Jr., Lima,
Peru/Mercy College) slammed a team-high 24 kills, while Kravitz's
and Monda's added 12 and 11-- both career-bests, respectively.
Carri Colvin (Sr., Vancouver, Wa./Praire) was the fourth Falcon in
double-figures with 13 kills.
Andra Taylor (Jr., Camas, Wa./Mt. Hood CC) led
SPU at the service line with three aces.
Defensively, the Falcons were led by a
career-high 26 digs by Colvin and 25 from Andrea Pennington (Jr.,
Bellingham, Wa./Whatcom CC). Katy Higgins (Jr., Kirkland,
Wa./Redmond) led SPU with 59 assists.
SPU travels south to Humboldt State this
Saturday for a 7 p.m. conference matchup in Arcata, Calif.
