Falcon Women's Soccer Unbeaten Streak Reaches 10
November 2, 2002

SEATTLE, Wa. (Nov. 2)-Shannon Lovejoy, LeRin Farrison and Michelle Sanders each scored goals as Seattle Pacific University remained unbeaten in its last 10 matches and notched its eight straight win, drubbing Central Washington 3-0, in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference women's soccer match Saturday afternoon at Interbay Stadium.

With one game left to play during regular season, the Falcons are in first place in the GNAC. Seattle Pacific can seal up its first ever women's soccer conference championship with a win at Seattle University on Tuesday (Nov. 5).

Michelle Everson's (Fr., Tacoma, Wa./Curtis) free kick from 18-yards out on the right side found the head of Lovejoy (Fr., Seattle, Wa./Seattle Prep.) at 30:43. The freshman forward channeled the six-yard header across the goalmouth and past Central Washington goalie Emily Barber to the far right post to open up scoring for Seattle Pacific.

The Falcons held a 1-0 advantage for much of the second half and senior LeRin Farrison (Seattle, Wa./Mountain View/Highline CC) netted the second goal of the match at 81:59, on an unassisted breakaway one-on-one with Barber. Sanders (So., Centralia, Wa.) nailed the insurance goal at 86:43 from 10 yards out off a cross from Katie Lim (So., Hillsboro, Or.). The score was Sanders' team leading 11th goal of the year.

The Falcons out shot Central 21-6 and were granted five corner kicks to the Wildcats' 1. Barber registered eight saves while Erin Pierce (Fr., Milwaukie, Or./Rex Putnam) and Jennifer Hull (So., Eugene, Or./Sheldon) combined for five saves for SPU.

Seattle Pacific faces Seattle University on Tuesday afternoon in a match in which the GNAC title may be decided. The Falcons lead Seattle University by a half-game in the standings. The Redhawks won at Interbay 2-1, on September 25. Kickoff for Tuesday's match is scheduled for 2 o'clock at Championship Field.
