SEATTLE (Nov. 2) -- In the final home match of her collegiate
career, Carri Colvin (Sr., Vancouver, Wa./Praire) recorded
team-highs of 14 kills, 14 digs and four blocks to lead the
Seattle Pacific University volleyball team past Northwest Nazarene
University 30- 28, 30-27, 30-24 Saturday night at Brougham
Pavilion.
The victory snaps a four-match losing streak for the Falcons
(6-9, 7-15) and hands the Crusaders (7-7, 11-10) just their third
sweep in conference play this season.
The Falcons never trailed the Crusaders in the first two games
and rallied from a seven-point margin in game three to seal the
sweep. Colvin recorded a .278 hitting percentage on just four
attack errors and added two service aces to her final night at the
pavilion.
Teammates Monica Herrera (Jr., Lima, Peru/Mercy College) and
Andra Taylor (Jr., Camas, Wa./Mt. Hood CC) chipped in 13 and 10
kills, respectively. Taylor also hit a team- high 40 percent and
her kill total sets a new career high. As a team, SPU hit .204,
the first time the team reached the .200 mark in the previous five
matches.
Lindsay Miller led the Crusaders with 10 kills while Jaime
Butler-Dawson added 13 digs in the losing effort.
SPU's remaining three matches of the season are on the road,
beginning next Thursday in Monmouth, Ore., against Western Oregon.
