ANCHORAGE, AK. (Oct. 26) -- Middle hitter
Monica Herrera (Jr., Lima, Peru/Mercy College) hit 14 kills and
recorded a .242 attack percentage as the Seattle Pacific
University volleyball team fell to Alaska-Anchorage 30- 24, 30-25,
30-25 Saturday night at the UAA Sports Center in Anchorage.
Anchorage has now won five of its last six matches and broke a
five-match losing streak to SPU dating back to 1997.
The Falcons (5-8, 6-14) fell victim to a
surging Seawolves (7-6, 11-10) club that drilled 52 kills and just
17 errors. Carri Colvin (Sr., Vancouver, Wa./Prairie) joined
Herrera in double-figures with 12 kills and a .259 attack
percentage. Andrea Pennington (Jr., Bellingham, Wa./Whatcom CC)
led the Falcons on defense with 12 digs.
SPU closes out this season's home schedule with
a pair of matches next week. The Falcons host crosstown rival
Seattle U. on Thursday at 7 p.m.
