ELLENSBURG, Wa.-Michelle Sanders scored the
go-ahead goal mid way through the second half of play to lift
Seattle Pacific University over Central Washington 2-1, in a
women's Great Northwest Athletic Conference soccer match Saturday
afternoon in Ellensburg.
Central's Rachel Casillas scored just before
intermission (44:45) on a breakaway but Seattle Pacific equalized
at 63:12, when Jessica Henson (So., Spokane, Wa./University)
recovered a loose ball in front of the Wildcat goal and beat
diving Central goalie Emily Barber.
Sanders (So., Centralia, Wa.) netted her third
goal of the season about three minutes later (66:48) off a pass
from teammate Shannon Lovejoy (Fr., Seattle, Wa./Seattle Prep.).
The Falcons' victory came less than 24 hours
after a 1-1 tie in Seattle, against Cal State Dominguez Hills that
went overtime. SPU out shot the Wildcats 16-12 and keepers
Jennifer Hull (So., Eugene, Or./Sheldon) and Erin Pierce (Fr.,
Eugene, Or./Rex Putnam) combined for six saves.
Central Washington goalie Barber saved nine
balls. The loss dropped the Wildcats' record to 1-10, 1-4-0.
Seattle Pacific (5-4-2, 3-3-0) returns to
Seattle to kick off a four-match home stand against Carroll
