NAMPA, ID. (Oct. 3) - Monica Herrera (Jr.,
Lima, Peru/Mercy College) slammed a season-high 30 kills as the
Seattle Pacific University volleyball team fell, 22- 30, 30-23,
30-27, 30-32, 17-15, to Northwest Nazarene University Thursday
night at Montgomery Fieldhouse in Nampa, Idaho.
The Falcons (2-4, 3-10) rallied from a
two-games-to-one deficit to record a victory in game four and
force a decisive fifth stanza with the Crusaders (4-2, 8-6). SPU
held a 13-11 lead in the final game before NNU rallied back to
even the game and seal the game and match victory.
Andrea Pennington (Jr., Bellingham/Whatcom CC)
led the Falcons on defense with 22 digs while Andra Taylor (Jr.,
Camas, Wa./Mt. Hood CC) recorded a career-high six blocks. The
Falcons recorded a .205 attacking percentage, marking the fourth
time in the last five games SPU reached that plateau.
The Falcons return to Seattle Saturday to play
red-hot crosstown rival Seattle University. The match is scheduled
for 7 p.m. at Seattle U's Connolly Center.
