Forward Michelle Sanders (So., Centralia, Wa.) figured into a the Falcons' first two goals in the matinee. Sanders scored at 41:28 from 16-yards out off a looping pass from teammate Sarah Melby (So., Mukilteo, Wa./Kamiak/Idaho) and assisted on Jessica Henson's (So., Spokane, Wa./University) score just five minutes later. Henson's goal was a shot to the Vikings' upper left post from 20-yards out.

Western Washington's Kristin Whitlock opened up the scoring in the match at 1:06 when she headed in a Christie DeMond corner kick.

The Vikings held a 18-13 advantage over the Falcons in shots, but SPU was awarded seven corner kicks to Western Washington's 3. Falcon goalie Jennifer Hull (So., Eugene, Or./Sheldon) registered nine saves in the match while Shaye Anderson and Kara Davis combined for five saves for the Vikings.
