Wolves Get Hat Trick to Drop SPU Women 3-1
September 14, 2002

MONMOUTH, Ore. (Sept. 14) -- Remaining winless on the road, the Seattle Pacific University women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to Western Oregon Saturday as the Wolves' Alexis Lampert scored three goals in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference game.

The Falcons, who dropped to 0-2-0 in GNAC play and 1-3-1 overall, could not capitalize on some early chances before Lampert put away two quick goals early in the second half. She snapped a scoreless tie in the 50th minute and a header four minutes later made it 2-0. Western Oregon is now 2-1 in conference and 2-2 overall.

Jessica Henson (So., Spokane, Wa.) pulled Seattle Pacific a goal back in the 57th minute, converting a cross from Michelle Everson (Fr., Tacoma, Wa./Stadium). It was Henson's first goal of the season. Michelle Sanders (So., Centralia, Wa.), SPU forward, had two 1-on-1 chances saved by WOU keeper Moani Mundo, then Lampert then put the game away and completed her hat trick in the 71st minute.

Each team finished with 11 shots, although Mundo was forced to make eight saves and the Falcons had a 5-1 edge in corner kicks. Erin Pierce (Fr., Milwaukie, Or.) made two saves for SPU.

Seattle Pacific resumes play Monday when it hosts Notre Dame de Namur in a nonconference game beginning at noon at Interbay Stadium.
