Late Funk Goal Sends Men's Soccer Varsity Past Alums
August 23, 2002

SEATTLE (Aug. 23) - Freshman forward Tom Funk converted a rebound with 2 minutes left in regulation time to lift Seattle Pacific University over the alumni 1-0 in an exhibition soccer game Friday night at Interbay Stadium.

Jeremy Yerkes (So., Gresham, Or.) took down a cross from Sean Sandin (So., Renton, Wa./Kentridge) but his shot was saved but not held by alumni goalie Chuck Granade, allowing Funk (Fr., Orland Park, Ill.) to score into an open net from 6 yards.

James Ward (So., Salem, Or.), who played the first half in goal before moving to forward, shared the varsity shutout with Adrian Cravalho (Sr., Mililani, Hi.).

The Falcons open the regular season next Friday at Northwest Nazarene.
