SEATTLE (June 14) -- A test of fire awaits a
rebuilt Seattle Pacific University volleyball squad when it opens
the 2002 season. The Falcons, who lost four starters from their
NCAA playoff squad, face defending Pacific Region champion Cal
State San Bernardino on the road Aug. 30.
The first seven matches are all against
non-conference foes in tournament play. Great Northwest Athletic
Conference action begins Sept. 14 when SPU hosts arch-rival
Western Washington in Brougham Pavilion.
Coach Kellie Ryan has a record of 44-14 in her
first two seasons, both ending in the first round of the NCAA
tournament. She has re-stocked her roster with several recruits,
including three transfers.
