SEATTLE (May 23) -- Four of Seattle Pacific
University's national track & field qualifiers plus cross
country runner Nick Glancy have been voted to the Verizon Academic
All-District VIII college division teams for men and women.
Seattle Pacific led all schools with three
women on the 10-member district team. Stephanie Huffman (Sr.,
Brush Prairie, Wa./Prairie) and Laura Widman (Jr., Colfax, Wa.)
are currently competing in the heptathlon at the NCAA Division II
Championships in San Angelo, Tx., while Sarah Kraybill (Jr.,
Seattle, Wa./Ballard) runs in the 800 meters prelim Friday night.
Huffman is an art major with a 3.60 grade point
average, Widman is a psychology major with a 3.69 and Kraybill is
an English major with a 3.70.
Joining Glancy (Sr., Redmond, Wa./Redmond) on
the men's track & field/cross country district team is
Nathanael Castle (Sr., Gooding, Id.), an NCAA qualifier in the
1500. Glancy, a mathematics major, leads all selections with a
3.96 GPA. Castle is a art major with a 3.66.
Members of the district team will be considered
for the Academic All-America teams, to be announced next month.
District VIII is comprised of nine western states plus two
Canadian provinces.
