SEATTLE (May 11) -- Dionna Anderson and Rachel Ross of Seattle Pacific University won the women's shot put and 800-meter run, respectively, while also improving their NCAA Division II qualifying marks at the 16th annual Ken Foreman Invitational Saturday at Husky Stadium.

The Falcons' Laura Widman capped her comeback from a hamstring injury earlier in the season to win the heptathlon with a total of 5004 points, including a provisional qualifying mark of 19 feet, 3/4 inches in the long jump.

In the final qualifying meet of the season, the Falcons also got higher marks for Nathanael Castle in the men's 1500 and Sarah Kraybill in the women's 800.

Shavon Hawkins of Washington was the meet's only double victor. Hawkins swept the 100 and 200 dashes. The Huskies' Zee Ongarro took first place in the 100 hurdles and was also runner-up in the long jump.

Former Husky Matt Phillips broke his own meet record in the pole vault, clearing 18-4 1/2. Jaz Gill of British Columbia's Valley Royals tied the meet record in the high jump at 7-2 1/2. For the women, Washington's Kelsey Sheppard established a meet standard of 58.50 seconds in the 400 hurdles and UW pole vaulters Kate Soma and Sandy Erickson matched the record of 12-7 1/2.

Anderson (Sr., Lynnwood, Wa./Edmonds-Woodway) let loose with the best throw of her career by nearly a foot, winning at 47-4 1/4. It is the No. 4 put in Div. II this season and it was her sixth win on the last seven meets.

Ross (Sr., Kennewick, Wa.) avenged her only 800 loss of the season with her best time in a year, going wire to wire in 2:09.36. Kraybill (Jr., Seattle, Wa./Ballard) bettered her PR by over 2 seconds, taking third in 2:10.46.

Widman (Jr., Colfax, Wa.) used parlayed her best long jump in three years to post the No. 5 score in the nation in the heptathlon this season.

She stands just behind teammate Stephanie Huffman, who scored 5005 last month. Leah Wiiest (Sr., Spokane, Wa./Deer Park), finishing with a 2:17.24 in the 800, solidified her chances of going to nationals by raising her score to 4774.

Castle (Sr., Gooding, Id.) all but assured himself of becoming Seattle Pacific's first NCAA qualifier since 1998. Despite taking fifth, he ran the No. 2 time in school history, in 3:50.44.

Ally Studer (So., Redmond, Wa./Redmond) of SPU is likely to have clinched an NCAA berth in the pole vault for the second year in a row, raising her season-best mark to 11-9 3/4. In addition, intermediate hurdler Paul Mach (So., Seattle, Wa./King's) made the provisional cut with a PR of 53.48 seconds.

A final list of qualifiers will be released Wednesday by the NCAA. The national meet is May 23-25 in San Angelo, Tex.
