Springfield, Mass (April 13) Seattle Pacific
University's Alison Siegel-McAfee (Sr., Oakland, Ca./Redwood
Christian) took 2nd place on vault in the women's USA Gymnastics
Collegiate Championships held in Springfield, Mass. She qualified
into the event in a tie for first place with Jenn Dougherty and
Kim Broughton both from Air Force and who finished as co-champions
in the All-Around competition which was decided on Thursday night.
Dougherty went on to win vault with a score of
9.750. Siegel-McAfee was only 0.05 behind, with a score of 9.700,
and Broughton finished in fourth with a 9.675.
Ericka Ruelas of UC Davis took top honors on
bars with a score of 9.90. This is her third consecutive year as
the nation champion on bars. Erin MacNabb from Texas Woman's was
second with 9.850 followed by teammate Michelle Hepner who took
third with a 9.800.
Kristen Strid (Jr., Kingsburg, Ca./Kingsburg)
of SPU scored a 9.525 in the beam competition and tied with Kaela
Meinert of Centenary for fifth place. Stacy Wong (UC Davis) and
Allison Todd (Air Force) are co-champions on the event with
identical scores of 9.775.
Tiffany Chan of UC Davis came out on top on
floor, earning her title on the event with a score of 9.900. Todd
was runner up with a score of 9.875.
