CORVALLIS, Ore. (Apr. 6) -- Alison Sigel-McAfee
of Seattle Pacific University matched her season-high on balance
beam to finish tied for eighth place at the NCAA West Regional
gymnastics meet Saturday night at Gill Coliseum.
Fourth-ranked Utah won the team title and,
along with runner-up Oregon State, will move on to the NCAA
Championships later this month in Alabama.
The Utes scored 197.100 and the Beavers
196.800. Oklahoma (196.625) was a close third, followed by
Washington (194.775).
Siegel-McAfee (Sr., Oakland, Ca./Redwood
Christian) scored a 9.850 on beam, an event won by Utah's Theresa
Kulikowski with a perfect 10.0 Kulikowski also won the bars
(9.950) and all-around (39.675) crowns.
Siegel-McAfee, who had qualified as an at-large
all-arounder, was 17th in that category with a four-event total of
38.450. She scored 9.675 on vault, 9.625 on bars and 9.300 on
floor.
Seattle Pacific sends its team to Springfield,
Mass., next week for the USA Gymnastics Collegiate Championships.
