EDMONDS, Wash. (Mar. 30) -- Ally Studer of
Seattle Pacific University won the women's pole vault with a
meet-record clearance and met the NCAA Division II provisional
qualifying height in the process Saturday at the Spring Break Open
track & field meet.
The Falcons' also got victories and meet-record
marks from Sarah Kraybill in the 400-meter dash and both the
women's and men's 4 x 800 relays.
Studer (So., Redmond, Wa./Redmond) vaulted 11
feet, 3 3/4 inches. She holds the SPU record at 12-2 and finished
fifth nationally as a freshman.
Kraybill (Jr., Seattle, Wa./Ballard)
out-sprinted teammate Rachel Ross (Sr., Kennewick, Wa.) to take
the 400 in 57.69 seconds. Ross was runner-up in 58.26. Kraybill
and Ross were joined by Candy Owens and Josie Lavin in the 4 x 800
relay, which prevailed in 9:33.73. Ross anchored in a split of
2:12.
The men's 4 x 800 of Paul Mach, Neal Fryett,
Tim LeCount and Nathanael Castle won in 7:51.01. Castle ran the
last two laps in 1:54.
Also winning for Seattle Pacific were the
women's 4 x 400 relay (4:04.48), 4 x 100 relay (51.73) and
Stephanie Huffman in the 100 hurdles, the latter in a
personal-best of 14.82. Dionna Anderson placed second in the shot
put (44-2).
Next week SPU goes to Bellingham for the
Vernacchia Invitational. |
