Seattle (March 23)- In the final home
competition of her career, senior Alison Siegel-McAfee finished in
top form, as she placed first in the all-around competition and
led the Seattle Pacific University gymnastics team to victory over
the University of Alaska Anchorage Saturday night. The Falcons won
by a score of 191.925 to 186.575.
The two teams met earlier in the week, and
Seattle took the top position on each event. The second meeting
was much the same, as freshman Elisabeth Kingsley (Fr., Kennesaw,
Ga./Harrison) scored a career high on the vault, earning a 9.725.
Siegel-McAfee (Sr., Oakland, Ca./Redwood Christian) placed second,
with a 9.700. Alaska's Mandi Burdick took third, scoring 9.450.
The Falcons swept the top four finishes on
bars, with the first place position going to Jennifer Christman
(So., Fairfield, Ca/Benicia) and Corrie McDaniel (Fr.,Lawrence,
Ks./Lawrence) who tied with identical scores of 9.700.
Siegel-McAfee was close behind with a 9.625. Annastasia Ahr (So.,
San Antonio, Tx./Blessed Hope Academy) placed fourth, with a
personal record of 9.550. SPU earned 47.775 points on the event.
Siegel-McAfee, the anchor for Seattle on beam,
earned a 9.85, the highest score of the night on the event.
Burdick took second with a 9.700, followed by three Falcons, Ahr
(9.650), Kristin Strid (Jr., Kingsburg, Ca./Kingsburg Joint Union)
with a 9.625, and McDaniel who also scored a 9.625.
Seattle took the top five places on floor, with
scores of 9.625 and higher. Siegel-McAfee took first place, with a
9.875. McDaniel was second, with a 9.750.
The Falcons next competition will be the USA
Gymnastics Championships, held on April 11-13 in Springfield Ma.
