SEATTLE (Mar. 12) -- Gig Harbor's Andy Willis
became the first men's soccer recruit to sign a national letter of
intent with Seattle Pacific University for next fall.
Willis is a two-time all-Narrows League
selection for Gig Harbor, and led the Tides with 12 goal as a
junior. Gig Harbor made the state 4A playoffs.
Willis, a 6-foot forward, scored 38 goals in 42
games for FC United of the state premier league. United finished
fourth in the 2001 fall season and advanced to the state cup
final, held last weekend.
Seattle Pacific, coached by Cliff McCrath,
finished its 2001 fall season at 10-8-1 and nine starters are
expected to return.
