DAVIS, Calif. --- Helped by season-best scores
by the uneven bars and floor exercise squads, UC Davis posted a
winning score of 193.450 to beat Seattle Pacific in a collegiate
women's gymnastics dual meet Thursday at Recreation Hall. The
Falcons finished second with a 192.900 total.
The Aggies' overall mark of 193.450, which
ranks second in school history only to the 193.700 that captured
the team title at the 1999 USA Gymnastics Collegiate
Championships, is more than two full points higher than the team's
previous season-high set at Alaska Anchorage almost one month ago.
Alison Siegel-McAfee highlighted SPU's evening
by winning the all-around at 38.900 and sharing first place on
vault with a 9.750.
Jennifer Christman finished second on bars at
9.800 while Kristin Strid scored a 9.750 on beam for third place.
The Aggies' top all-arounder Flora Bare was
limited to uneven bars due to a calf injury, but managed a
third-place 9.725 on that apparatus.
Ericka Ruelas and Tiffany Chan shared first
place on floor exercise at 9.850. The floor squad posted a 48.975
despite a lineup in which the first three competitors -- Jenna
Mayfield, Stacy Wong and Michelle Naito -- had a total of nine
floor appearances this season. The mark also swung the meet as the
Aggies trailed by 0.50 after three rotations.
Ruelas also had the winning score on bars with
a 9.900 performance.
SPU's next meet is Friday at Stanford with San
Jose State and Sacramento State.
