SEATTLE (Mar. 5) -- Despite extending its
winning streak to six games and clinching an NCAA Division II
tournament berth, Seattle Pacific University dropped two places to
No. 9 in this week's women's basketball poll.
Four of the six teams involved in this week's
NCAA West Regional in Pomona, Ca., are featured in the final
regular season coaches poll by USA Today/ESPN. Defending national
champion Cal Poly Pomona, which awaits the winner of Thursday
night's first round game between SPU (22-5) and Cal State
Bakersfield (22-5), is No. 2. Western Washington (23-4) is No. 11
and Montana State Billings (23-4) No. 25.
Missouri Western retained the No. 1 ranking for
the third week in a row.
