SEATTLE (Feb. 27) -- Valerie Gustafson and
Stacie Lukkes of the 7th-ranked Seattle Pacific University women's
basketball team were today named Academic All-Great Northwest
Athletic Conference for the first time.
Lukkes (Jr., 6-0, Kent, Wa./Kent Meridian) owns
the third-highest grade point average of the 23 women selected.
She has a 3.93 while majoring in business administration. A
reserve center, Lukkes 3.8 rebounds and 3.5 points.
Gustafson (So., 6-0, Olympia, Wa./Black Hills),
who is now starting at forward, is a European studies major with a
3.36 GPA. Gustafson averages 7.5 points and 3.9 rebounds.
To be eligible for the academic team,
student-athletes must have a minimum grade point average of 3.20
and be in their second year of competition at their university.
