Stone, Johnson Threepeat on GNAC Academic Team
February 27, 2002

SEATTLE (Feb. 27) -- Five men's basketball players from Seattle Pacific University are featured on the Academic All-Great Northwest Athletic Conference team, equaling the most by any team.

Brannon Stone (Sr., 6-7, Oak Harbor, Wa.) and Nick Johnson (Sr., 6-3, Burlington, Wa./Burlington-Edison) each made the team for the third year in a row while Adam Harris (Jr., 6-0, Fox Island, Wa./Gig Harbor) was a repeat selection. Named to the team for the first time were Chris Cohen (So., 6-8, Saint Helens, Or.) and Daniel Sandrin (Jr., 6-7, Bothell, Wa./Bothell).

Stone leads the 9th-ranked Falcons in rebounding, assists, 3-pointers and blocked shots and is a business administration major with a 3.51 grade point average. Johnson, the team's No. 2 scorer and GNAC leader in free throw accuracy, is also a business major and has a 3.42 GPA. Both had been named Academic All-District VIII last week.

Harris is the top backcourt reserve and an English major with a 3.57 GPA. Sandrin, the team's sixth man at forward, is a business major with a 3.53. Cohen, a back-up center, is another business major with a 3.57.

Northwest Nazarene was the only other GNAC school with five men's selections.

To be eligible for the academic team, student-athletes must have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 and be in their second year of competition at their university.
