SEATTLE (Feb. 20) -- With two weeks remaining
in the regular season, Seattle Pacific University slipped to No. 4
in this week's NCAA Division II men's basketball West Region
rankings this week while the women remained No. 7.
The Falcon men (20-3) are now behind Cal State
San Bernardino, Humboldt State and Cal State Bakersfield. Hawaii
Pacific, Montana State Billings and Western Washington round out
the top seven. Only the top six will make the playoffs next month.
Seattle Pacific has four games remaining, beginning Thursday night
at Alaska Anchorage. It hosts Humboldt State in the final regular
season game Mar. 2.
In the women's ratings, SPU (19-5) remained
steady despite a pair of home wins. Cal Poly Pomona, Western
Washington, Cal State Bakersfield, Montana State Billings, Central
Washington and Sonoma State comprise the top six. The Falcons play
three more games, including Central Washington Mar. 2.
The Feb. 27 poll will the final ranking prior
to the NCAA tournament announcements Mar. 3.
