SACRAMENTO, Ca.-Alison Siegel-McAfee vaulted
and balanced first place finishes en route to top honors in the
all-around competition as Seattle Pacific University flipped host
Sacramento State 191.400 to 190.600, in a women's gymnastics meet
Friday night at Hornet Gym.
Siegel-McAfee (Sr., Oakland, Ca.) started the
evening with a 9.750 on vault and did not look back. The senior
all-arounder posted some impressive marks, swinging the uneven
bars to a 9.525, negotiating the beam for a 9.725 and tumbling a
9.800 on floor exercise. Siegel-McAfee tied for second on floor
and matched her season best in the all-around (38.800).
Freshman Corrie McDaniel (Lawrence, Ks.) also
nailed her floor routine for a 9.800 and a tie for second place
with Siegel-McAfee. McDaniel finished fourth in the all-around
competition (37.150) behind Siegel Mc-Afee, Toni Peterson and
Binta Coleman of Sacramento State.
SPU swept the top four spots on the balance
beam as Kristin Strid (Kingsburg, Ca.) finished second with a
9.675 and Annastasia Ahr (So., San Antoni, Tx.) won third (9650).
Courtney Stump finished fourth (9.550).
The USA Gymnastics fourth-ranked Falcons
notched their first win in four meets with the decision at Sac
State, and return to Seattle to dual with the Hornets again on
February 22. Official start time is scheduled for 7:00.
