SEATTLE (Feb. 13) -- With only three weeks
remaining in the regular season, Seattle Pacific University finds
its women's basketball team in a precarious position with regard
to making the NCAA Division II tournament.
The Falcons fell two spots to No. 7 in this
week's West Region rankings by the NCAA. Only the top six teams
will move on to the playoffs.
SPU (17-5) lost at Western Washington last week
and hosts Alaska Fairbanks Thursday night at Brougham Pavilion,
where three of the final five games will be played. Central
Washington, which visits Seattle Pacific Mar. 2., improved to No.
5 in the region while Western is No. 3.
In the men's regional rankings, Seattle Pacific
remained No. 3 behind Cal State San Bernardino and Humboldt State,
which comes to the pavilion Mar. 2.
