SEATTLE (Feb. 5) -- Seattle Pacific University,
now No. 11 among NCAA Division II women's basketball teams, moved
up one spot going into Thursday's encounter with No. 16 Western
Washington in Bellingham. The Falcons (8-3, 16-4) extended their
home winning streak to 17 last week against Saint Martin's and
Northwest Nazarene.
Western (10-1, 17-3) has won eight in a row
since losing at SPU, 87-74, Jan. 5. However the Vikings actually
dropped down one slot in this week's poll.
Cal Poly Pomona lost its hold on No. 1 in the
USA Today/ESPN coaches poll, dropping back to No. 3 following a
loss to Cal State Bakersfield. Missouri Western is the new No. 1
team.
