SEATTLE (Feb. 4) -- Matching its highest
national ranking of the season, Seattle Pacific University jumped
back to No. 8 in this week's NCAA Division II men's basketball
poll. The Falcons have remained among the top 10 for the past five
weeks and have won 18 of 19 games.
SPU (18-2) held both Saint Martin's and Central
Washington to 59 points last week to extend the home winning
streak to 12 games. The next five games are all on the road,
beginning Thursday at Seattle University.
There was a change at the top of the coaches
rankings, compiled by the Division II Bulletin. Kentucky Wesleyan
went back to No. 1 after Cal State San Bernardino suffered its
first loss. The Coyotes are now No. 4 and Humboldt State, the last
team to defeat Seattle Pacific, is No. 7.
