Huffman, Ross Highlight SPU at Indoor Washington Quad Classic

SEATTLE (Feb. 2) -- Stephanie Huffman finished among the top six in both the long jump and high jump and Rachel Ross improved her season-best mark in the mile to highlight Seattle Pacific University's participation in the Washington Quad Classic indoor track & field meet Saturday at the Dempsey Indoor facility.

Huffman (Sr., Brush Prairie, Wa./Prairie) took fourth in the high jump with her best clearance in three meets at 5 feet, 3 3/4 inches. She also hit an indoor season-best in the long jump at 17-10 3/4.

Ross (Sr., Kennewick, Wa.) shaved 3 seconds off her best of the winter, running sixth in the mile at 5 minutes, 4.61 seconds. The NCAA Division II provisional qualifying standard is 5:03.60.

In other results for the Falcons, Ally Studer (So., Redmond, Wa./Redmond) equaled her best pole vault height of the year at 11-5 3/4, taking 11th; Dionna Anderson (Sr., Lynnwood, Wa./Edmonds-Woodway) was 10th in the shot put (41-6 1/2); Sarah Kraybill (Jr., Seattle, Wa./Ballard) ran 10th in the 800 (2:20.05) and the women's 1600 relay was eighth in 4:08.53.

Seattle Pacific was the only Div. II team involved in the meet, which included athletes from, among others, Washington, UCLA, Oregon, Boise State, Eastern Washington, Portland and Portland State.

The next action for SPU is the Feb. 15-16 Vandal Indoor in Moscow, Id.
