SEATTLE (Nov. 27) -- Janna Schaafsma, a
three-time Alaska state hurdles champion from Soldotna High
School, has signed a national letter of intent to compete in track
& field for Seattle Pacific University.
Schaafsma won both the 100- and 300-meter
hurdles in near-record times last May. She also won the 100
hurdles as a sophomore and ran on three relays which placed among
the top six in the state during her career. Now a senior,
Schaafsma is the class valedictorian with a grade point average of
4.00 and a national merit semifinalist.
Seattle Pacific finished ninth in the 2001 NCAA
Division II Track & Field Championships and is two-time
defending conference champion. |
