SEATTLE. (Nov. 24) -- Stephanie Urrutia (Jr.,
Sunnyside, Wa./Sunnyside) scored a team-high 21 points to lead the
Seattle Pacific University women's basketball team past San
Francisco State 106-69 in a non-conference matchup Saturday at
Brougham Pavilion. For the first time in the program's history,
SPU has recorded 100 or more points in three straight games.
The Falcons (4-0) led by as many as 45 points
over the Gators (1-2) behind five SPU players in double-figures.
Kelley Berglund (Jr., Port Angeles, Wa./Washington State) led the
SPU rebounding effort with six boards while Valerie Gustafson
(So., Olympia, Wa./Black Hills) blocked three shots. Kerie Hughes
(Jr., Mt Vernon, Wa./Mt. Vernon) dished out a team-high eight
assists.
Kiana Joshua paced SFS with 13 points.
SPU is ranked first in the GNAC preseason
coaches poll, second in the NCAA West Region poll and No. 20 in
the NCAA Division II ESPN/USA Today national poll. The Falcons
host Northwest College this Tuesday, Nov. 27, at 7 p.m.
