OLYMPIA (Nov. 21) -- Kelley Berglund poured in
22 points and Kristin Poe added 20 plus eight assists as
20th-ranked Seattle Pacific University blew out Evergreen 102-47
for its third straight lopsided win Wednesday night in a
nonconference women's basketball game at the College Recreation
Center.
The Falcons (3-0), playing their road opener,
shot 56 percent (41-73) in breezing to the 55-point margin the
night after blasting Cascade College by 59 at home. Berglund (Jr.,
6-3, Port Angeles, Wa.), the transfer center from Washington
State, converted 9 of 12 field goals in 20 minutes while Poe (So.,
5-8, Enumclaw, Wa.) was 8-12.
SPU led from the outset and held a 51-21 lead
at halftime. Emily Faurholt (Fr., 5-11, Kennewick, Wa.) had 15
points and Valerie Gustafson (So., 6-0, Olympia, Wa./Black Hills)
came off the bench for 13. All three wins have been by 27 points
or more.
Chandra Rathke paced the Geoducks (0-3) with 12
points and seven boards.
Evergreen committed 35 turnovers and shot just
33 percent (18-55).
Seattle Pacific hosts San Francisco State
