SEATTLE (Nov. 20) -- Leah Wiiest, who helped
lead Seattle Pacific University to its second straight NCAA
Division II playoff appearance this season, has been selected to
the All-Pacific Region team by the American Volleyball Coaches
Association (AVCA).
Wiiest (Sr., Spokane, Wa./Deer Park) led the
Falcons (20-8) in both kills (3.65) and blocks (0.84) for the
second year in a row and was earlier a repeat selection to the
all-Great Northwest Athletic Conference first team. She is only
the fourth SPU player to be named all-region and the first since
Beth Palmer in 1996. All-region selections are eligible for the
All-America team which will be announced later this month.
Seattle Pacific finished second in the GNAC and
was eliminated in the first round of the Pacific Regional by
defending NCAA champion Hawaii Pacific last week.
