SEATTLE (Oct. 31) -- Seattle Pacific University
led all Great Northwest Athletic Conference members with 13
student-athletes'eight women and five men'on the academic
all-conference cross country teams announced Wednesday.
Among the Falcons repeating as selections were
Dana Cantrell (Sr., Belingham, Wa./Sehome), Ruth Hawkinson (Jr.,
Roy, Wa./Yelm), Nick Glancy (Sr., Redmond, Wa./Redmond) and Scott
Van Hess (Jr., Salem, Or./McKay).
Also named were Nathanael Castle (Jr., Gooding,
Id.) and Jamie Witt (So., Folsom, Ca.) who had earlier qualified
for the all-conference team by finishing fifth and six,
respectively, at the GNAC Championships. Seattle Pacific competes
at the NCAA West Regional Saturday in Bellingham.
A total of 71 student-athletes'41 women and 30
men'were named to the team from the 10 GNAC schools. Glancy, a
mathematics major with a 3.97 grade point average, had the highest
GPA among the males.
To be eligible for the academic team,
student-athletes must have a minimum grade point average of 3.20
and be in their second year of competition at their university.
