First-Place Falcons Rout Northwest Nazarene as Larsen Registers Hat Trick
October 27, 2001

SEATTLE, Wa. (Oct. 27)-Andrea Larsen scored three goals to lead Seattle Pacific University in a 6-0 rout of Northwest Nazarene at a Great Northwest Athletic Conference women's soccer game Saturday afternoon at Interbay.

In just its first year of varsity play, Seattle Pacific is in sole possession of first place in the GNAC after Western Oregon defeated second place Seattle University, Saturday afternoon. There are two games remaining in the 2001 season.

All three of Larsen's scores came during the second half in which the Falcons out shot the Crusaders 13-0. Northwest Nazarene was not allowed a shot in the match. SPU took 17 attempts in all.

Alissa Peterson (So., Plymouth, Mn./Wayzata/Wisconsin) opened up the scoring mid way through the first half. Peterson found herself alone in front of a very muddy goal fifteen yards out on the right side. The sophomore put the ball past NNU keeper

Shauna Voss at 21:54. It was Peterson's second goal in as many games. The forward scored the game winner against Humboldt State with one minute remaining on Monday night.

Erin Roberts (Jr., Issaquah, Wa./Issaquah/Montana) scored eighteen minutes later (20:42) on a penalty kick to put the Falcons up 2-0 at intermission.

The second half belonged to Larsen. The senior transfer scored her first goal at 70:57 off a left side cross from teammate Katie Lim (Fr., Hillsboro, Or.). Three minutes later, Larsen struck again, beating Voss with a shot to the left post with an assist from Bree Ann Milligan (73:13).

Milligan (Fr., Idaho Falls, Id./Skyline) scored just over two minutes later with a blank to the left post at 75:32.

At 88:34, Larsen collected her hat trick. Teammate Jessica Henson (Fr., Spokane, Wa./University) attempted a shot at the left post. The ball might have been wide, but Larsen was there to guide it into the net for her third goal.

Seattle Pacific (7-3-0, 8-8-1) is a half game up on both Seattle University and Western Oregon in GNAC play. The Falcons next game is against Seattle University on Thursday (Nov. 1). Kickoff is at 7:00. Next Saturday afternoon, the Falcons travel to Monmouth to take on Western Oregon.
