Falcons Sweep Jacks in Volleyball
October 12, 2001

SEATTLE (Oct. 12) -- Cathleen Price (Fr., Gresham, Or./Sam Barlow) slammed 11 kills and six blocks to lead the Seattle Pacific volleyball team to a sweep over Humboldt State University, 30-24, 30-17, 30-21, in a conference matchup Friday at Brougham Pavilion. The Falcons are currently ranked 5th in the NCAA West Region.

After missing six matches due to injury, Leilani Kamahoahoa (Sr., Oregon City, Or./Canby) returned to the lineup tonight to help boost the Falcons (7-3, 14-4) past the Jacks (1-9, 4-15) in a three-game sweep. Kamahoahoa recorded two kills, two service aces and five digs in limited action.

Price was the lone Falcon in double-figures on offense while the SPU defense stole the show. SPU recorded 10 team blocks, out dug the Jacks 58 to 41 and held them to just .033 hitting. Carri Colvin (Jr., Brush Prairie, Wa./Prairie) and Katy Higgins (So., Kirkland, Wa./Redmond) led the team in digs with 14 apiece. Higgins also led the assist effort with 28.

SPU hosts GNAC opponent Western Oregon University tomorrow night at Brougham Pavilion. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
